Good Monday morning, WABBLES family! We are going to see some serious heat this week, so now is the time to get prepared! With no legitimate precipitation in the forecast, the WABBLES area is about to cash in on a significant summer-time heatwave that you’ll want to take seriously. So listen up as we dive right into the forecast together in today’s weather blog!

Yeah, you’re gonna want to make sure your AC is working this week. (GIPHY)

Today’s Forecast

Mostly sunny skies will lead us off beginning today, with temperatures rising pretty quickly to hit the low-90s this afternoon. We won’t properly cool off until after dark due to a lack of significant cloud cover, only dipping just barely below 70 degrees for our low. Despite the fact that we do have some moisture hanging out in the region, we won’t see anything other than a random pop-up shower over the next several days, as we don’t really have any lift available to get that moisture up off the ground and into the atmosphere.

Oh Boy… How Hot?

Unfortunately, the low-90 degree temperatures are just the appetizer before the main course moves in around mid-week. We’re talking daytime temperatures around 96-98 degrees for most WABBLES counties beginning Wednesday and lingering all the way through the weekend with nothing in the pattern to disrupt the sweltering heat. It’s going to become ESSENTIAL for folks to start taking heatstroke precautions, especially those who spend a lot of time working outdoors. Hydration is the MOST IMPORTANT thing with heat events like these; pack a water bottle and keep refilling it throughout your day, because that could be the difference between staying healthy and serious dehydration.

This heat is no joke, folks! (PivotalWeather)

How Can I Stay Safe?

Heat-related illnesses are one of the most common health problems encountered in the summer, but despite this, many folks still don’t know the proper ways to protect against them. You’ll want to be as hydrated as possible even BEFORE you spend time outdoors, and have cold water and electrolyte-replenishing beverages on hand during your time outside. Snacks are also an important and essential way to replenish the salts and minerals you lose by sweating, so take along some chips and granola bars while you work this week! If you start to notice any of the symptoms depicted by the image below, quickly take the proper action- even if that means calling 9-1-1 for help!

Final Remarks

We really don’t have much else weather-wise to discuss today, so we’re hoping that this advance warning on the incoming heatwave is enough to get y’all prepared for what’s to come. It’s that time of year, ladies and gentlemen! No matter what, we here at wxornotBG ALWAYS want you to stay safe out there, so please make sure you’re taking care of yourselves this week. We’re a family, so don’t go getting heat stroke instead of taking the proper preparations! We’ll see you back here tomorrow morning with an update folks, so until then, be well!

See you tomorrow! (GIPHY)
