Good Monday morning, WABBLES! We’re in for an unseasonably cloudy, slightly cooler few days ahead, as an unusual pattern has fallen into place across the region this weekend. Though springtime often comes with fluctuating temperatures and scattered precipitation opportunities, we’ll see an abundance of those over the next seven days, as a lingering low pressure circulation sits overtop northcentral Kentucky through the middle of the week. But when will it move out? And what kind of weather can we expect once it does? We’ll go through it all together in today’s weather blog!

Today’s Forecast
Yet another cloudy and cooler day is expected for our Monday after a weekend of storms and lingering showers. High temperatures in the low-60s are expected today, with lows nearing the mid-40s overnight into Tuesday. No more rumbles of thunder expected, but we’re definitely remaining overcast, as the upper-level low pressure system to our north continues to spin low-level cloud cover over WABBLES. Some of these low-lying clouds may have the potential to squeak out a quick shower or two this morning, so don’t be surprised if you’re out and about and see some scattered raindrops on the windshield!

So… We Stay Cloudy All Week?
Not necessarily! The good news is that this spinning stationary low is expected to finally migrate off to the northeast by early Wednesday, which will help us see a little more sun and warm back up into more appropriate mid-70s temperatures for the end of the week. However, the return of warmer air can sometimes indicate the return of a moist airmass, which may be the case Wednesday afternoon.

Despite the clearing of our persistent spinning low, a second system could migrate into the region that day, bringing the return of some scattered rain showers through the evening and overnight into Thursday. We’ll warm up even more on Thursday afternoon, which could lead to a slight chance for a few wandering thunderstorms. You’ll want to keep that umbrella handy over the next week or so, because this unsettled pattern will likely continue through the weekend, as no large frontal systems are expected to sweep through and clear out all the moisture from our area anytime soon!

That’s about all we’ve got for you today, folks! Despite the scattered showers possible pretty often this week, we’re definitely expecting a much calmer several days with no severe weather concerns. Enjoy these slightly cooler temperatures and cloudier days while we’ve got them, because stormy spring will surely be back before we know it! No matter what, we’ll be keeping you covered with all the latest details here on the weather blog and also on our Twitter page, where we put out frequent updates on the forecast to ensure you always stay informed.
We’ll see you here again soon, y’all, and happy Cinco de Mayo!
