Good Monday morning, WABBLES! After a perfect weekend of just-right temperatures and bright blue skies, we’re getting back into the traditional tropical wet and warm of the summer season with the week’s extended forecast. As amazing as our cold front and high pressure have been, they can’t stick around forever; and something big may be brewing in the Gulf of Mexico, lining us up to receive a shot of tropical moisture before the weekend arrives. How long will we stay dry? And when are we expecting rain’s return to WABBLES? We’re going through it all together in today’s weather blog!

We definitely aren’t expecting any land hurricanes… but some leftover tropical rain could bring in the weekend with a bang! (GIPHY)

Today’S Forecast

Unfortunately, we’ll close our early-fall-feel chapter today, as high temperatures will return to the low-80s this afternoon and continue to increase through the end of the week. Scattered cloud cover will drift through over the next several days, providing short breaks from the glaring sun. Still, by the time we’re expecting some more tropical activity to make its way into our WABBLES region, we’ll be back to the common low-90s and juicier dewpoints than we’ve seen over the last few days. Today will be our last nicer, cooler, calmer day before summer returns in earnest, so make sure you’re out there to enjoy it, y’all!

What’s the Tropical Trouble?

Glad you asked! Now that the tropics are heating up again, we’re on the lookout for any possible ocean disturbance that could affect our local weather pattern; and lucky (or maybe unlucky, for those who hate rain) we’ve got one! Potential Tropical Cyclone Six has been spinning away in the Gulf of Mexico for the last 12 hours or so, and its current projected trajectory would have it making landfall in Louisiana as a weak hurricane before its remnants drift northward towards our precious WABBLES.

Here’s the latest messaging on the cyclone! (NHC)

Now, of course this cyclone won’t be a hurricane when (or if!) it makes it into our region. But tropical depressions are good at dumping a lot of rain at inland locations, and if it maintains this current heading, we could get in on some of that at the end of this week. In fact, the GFS model is already taking a swing at what our radar could look like going into Thursday and Friday of this week:

Will this exact scenario be the one that pans out? Probably not. We still have a lot left to learn about this system before the end of this week, and the forecast could absolutely change! But seeing as we’ll be calm and dry until then, we figured it was best to give you some advance warning on this. If you’ve got end-of-the-week outdoor plans? Maybe sit and watch how things evolve over the next several days. If you’re excited about seeing some rain return to the region? Don’t get too excited, as the forecast cone could shift directions.

No matter what, we’ll be back here later this week with another blog-shaped forecast for you to dig into. And if you’re a little more nervous about this disturbance than the average bear, give us a follow over on the wxornotBG Twitter page, where we stream the daily forecast and provide real-time weather updates for WABBLES every single day! We’re here to take care of you, so leave the weather to us, folks.

We’ll see you back here later this week for another update! Bye!
