Man, it has been an amazing week weatherwise around WABBLES. However, it is still April and unsettled weather is never far away, and as we head toward next week, it looks like things will turn warmer and potentially stormier.

Fine Friday Evening

However, the first step to getting unsettled this time of year is to get warm and it looks like it will be getting warm just in time for a pretty nice Friday afternoon and evening.

High pressure has been in charge this week, bringing us plenty of sunshine and cooler air. However, with the high pressure starting to scoot to the east, leading to the beginning of our pattern change for the weekend. Ergo: it’s getting warmer.

Oh now that? That’ll work. (Pivotal Weather)

Southerly flow will combine with yet another day of brilliant sunshine to help drive daytime highs back up into the middle and upper 70s. The good news is that it doesn’t look too breezy, so we’re looking at a pretty nice looking afternoon…yet again!

As afternoon gives way to evening, we’ll see those light winds continue, along with scattered decorator clouds. Though, with the air being relatively dry, we’ll see temperatures cooling nicely through the 70s during the evening hours. Past sunset, we’re back into the 60s with temperatures falling back into the upper 50s as we head into the overnight hours.

Weekend of Change: Saturday and Sunday

High pressure remains nearby but to the east, allowing warmth and moisture to continue to filter into the region. That also keeps us dry for a little while longer.

After a cooler start to the day, we’ll warm nicely under partly cloudy skies. Not quite pool weather, but not far off as highs reach up into the lower to perhaps middle 80s yet again. Yep, back above average!

Some clouds will likely filter in as moisture levels continue to go up during the day, but nothing that should impact highs too much or portend widespread rain chances. I mean, I can’t rule out a shower, but many of us do look to stay dry.

Well, attempts will be made. (Pivotal Weather)

The mild air will continue to filter in even as the sun goes down thanks to those southerly winds, with lows above average, but not “A/C past sundown” above average…yet. Lows fall back into the upper 50s.

However, the see-saw continues as we head into the day on Sunday as we head back up, up, up.

Southerly winds get a bit breezy as we work into the day on Sunday, which should only help to increase the warmth and moisture being streamed up into the Ohio Valley. It’s going to feel like pool weather as highs soar up into the middle 80s during the afternoon. Yeah, you read that right.

And you know how we talk about these models usually underdo these southwesterly return flow scenarios. (Pivotal Weather)

We’ve got at least some moisture sneaking back into the region, but it shouldn’t feel overly humid during the afternoon…just remember to wear sunscreen if you’ve got to do some of that dreaded yardwork. Temperatures should slowly fall overnight as scattered clouds continue to drift through the skies. Overnight lows won’t fall a ton though, with minimums falling back into the middle 60s or so…like a summer night were it not humid.

Getting Unsettled: Into Next Week

The high pressure to our south and east remains rather settled in, which will continue to pump warmer and more moist air up into the region out ahead of a rather active setup that looks to be setting up out to the west.

See here: the weather pattern next week. (Giphy)

For us on Monday, that’s still a little too far away to affect us much, so we’ll enjoy what looks to be another warm and dry day on Monday. Highs yet again make it up into the lower to middle 80s with sunshine during the day.

Keeping an eye on

However, as we head later into the overnight, some clouds will try to sneak back into the region and those could perhaps have a few showers with them, but the majority of us stay dry, with lows back only in the upper 60s.

Working later in the week, we’ll continue to watch the action out to the west as it would appear plains severe weather season will be coming to life. We’ll see how that affects our forecast as we head through the work week. Things stay warm into Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the 80s. At this point, it looks like the best chance for storminess returns as we head midweek and beyond. We’ll be keeping close eyes on it.

That’s it for me for now! You can always keep up with the latest on all of our social media platforms. Have a tremendous day and a great weekend!
