We’ve spent much of the week settled in with a rather unsettled pattern throughout the region, and it’s looking like we’ll start the weekend off on rather the same note.

Warm and Windy: Friday and Friday Night

We’ve been awash with frontal boundaries attempting to push through the region this week, and we’ve got another disturbance that will likely bring us a smattering of showers and thunderstorms as we head through our Friday.

Something like that. (CBC / Giphy)

As it stands, we look to remain in our warm and muggy pattern as we approach our Friday afternoon. Despite mostly cloudy skies, high temperatures will once again soar above average, back into the lower 80s in the afternoon hours. Along with dew points in the 60s, it will feel rather muggy for early April.

Showers and storms will continue to scattered themselves about the region, not dissimilar to hash browns on a Waffle House griddle. Widespread severe weather is not expected, but it’s not out of the question we could see perhaps a few stronger wind gusts or instances of heavy rain.

Well, somewhere around the region anyway. (Pivotal Weather)

Any showers and storms sticking around should begin to wane as we lose the heating of the afternoon, though it will remain rather mild and muggy as we head through the overnight. We’ll remain primarily overcast overnight, but lows only fall into the middle 60s…which is, again, where we should be for afternoon highs at the beginning of April.

Another Tale of Two Weekend Days: Saturday and Sunday

As is so often in early Spring, our Easter weekend looks to be a tale of two seasons from Saturday and into Sunday. If you’ve got any outdoor Easter plans, I would make them on Saturday, because it’s looking like we’ll be warm and mostly dry. Though, it will be breezy.

Maybe not that windy, but still a bit on the breezy side. (Pokémon / Giphy)

That’s ahead of yet another frontal boundary that’s going to drag, you guessed it, more showers and storms through the region. Though, trends have continued to want to bring these showers in later in the evening hours vs. in the afternoon. That will allow things to yet again warm up quite nicely into the afternoon, with highs reaching up into the lower 80s yet again.

Oh look, a looming cold front. (Pivotal Weather)

We’ll have the moisture in place as we head into the evening to sustain some storms that will be trying to scoot into the region, however, the wind energy is not a ton to write home about. I mean, I can’t rule out a strong storm or two, along with a little bit of heavy rain, but widespread severe weather doesn’t appear to be in the cards right now.

Me, not nearly as stressed. (Giphy)

However, the biggest story with this front is likely going to be the cold air on the back side of it. As the showers move through, we’re going to see those temperatures drop thanks to northwesterly winds pushing back into the region. That will drop temperatures from Sunday’s overnight high not far from 60º into the upper 40s by the time we wake up for Easter Sunday service.

Here it comes! (Pivotal Weather)

Despite the front moving through, we’ll keep clouds around as we head through the daytime hours on Sunday, combining with northwesterly winds, that will create cooling temperatures throughout the day.

That’s right, Easter Sunday is looking like a day to stay…in of doors. Eating candy, perhaps?

We may try to slowly clear out into the afternoon hours, but the temperatures will only rebound a few degrees. Probably into the middle 50s at best…you know, spring! Clearing skies overnight will help temperatures tumble precipitously near frosty levels, into the mid 30s. Just make sure to help out any of those plants that may be a touch more sensitive to the cold.

Averaging Out and Calming Down: Into Next Week

That cooler and calmer pattern does look like it will linger as we head through the first full work week of April…a welcome change from the summer-like preview that kept temps warm at night.

High pressure is back in place as we go into Monday and Tuesday, which will bring us a major increase in sunshine, with only a minor increase in temperatures. Which, for us, means well, right about where we should be for this time of year.

Now that’s more like it. (Pivotal Weather)

High temperatures should settle into the lower to middle 60s as we head into Monday, with lower 60s likely on Tuesday. We’ll try to bring the southerly return flow back as we head toward mid-week, but still under high pressure, we should remain sunny as we head toward Wednesday with highs back into the upper 60s. Not bad, not bad at all!

That’s it for me for now! You can always keep up with the latest on all of our social media platforms. Have a tremendous day and a great weekend!
