WABBLES Weekend: Spring Starts Calmer
Shew. After an active first half of the month of March, culminating in a widespread wind event throughout the region to close out last weekend, we’ve flipped the script this weekend to a more tranquil and spring-like pattern.
Happy Spring: Friday and Friday Night
Frigid temperatures greeted us to start the second half of the month earlier in the week, but those may be just a distant memory as we officially flip the calendar to spring!

Our vernal equinox takes place at 9:46am CDT Friday morning, firmly in the middle of a road taking us to a wonderful Friday afternoon.

With high pressure in place, sunshine looks to be abundant as we head through the daytime hours, allowing highs to soar back into the lower to middle 70s for the afternoon…and with light winds for a change!

We’ll cool pleasantly through the 70s and 60s as afternoon turns to evening. A perfect Friday evening for a back porch beverage, a backyard barbecue…or setting a big screen out on the patio and mainlining the second straight day of all-day basketball.

However, as evening gives way to nighttime, you might want to see about finding a jacket or a hoodie, because we’ll wind up in the 50s for overnight lows, even with a few more clouds sneaking in.
Warming Weekend: Saturday and Sunday
If you were a fan of Friday’s weather, then you are going to love what ol’ Ma Nature’s got in store for us for the weekend proper.

While some clouds will be around during the daytime hours, it shouldn’t hurt our temperatures much at all. And it’s looking even more like rain should stay away during the day!

Subtle high pressure pushing to the east under more plentiful sunshine should have highs on Saturday back up into the middle to upper 70s. Yep…we’re back above normal! However, clouds will try to pour in overnight as another front tries to push in from the north. That should keep us above normal for overnight lows, but still pleasantly clear, with lows in the middle 40s overnight.
Things look a bit different for Sunday, but not too bad.

A weak frontal boundary trying to scoot in from Canada will try to scoop up some moisture as it barrels down into the region from the north later in the day. Before then, skies should remain partly cloudy, as temperatures soar up into the lower 80s. Yes, a summer feel!

But it’s not time to break out the swim trunks just yet. Not only because it’s still March, but because the 80s won’t last too long.

It’s not out of the question that we see some showers and thunderstorms try to sneak in here on Sunday night, though severe weather doesn’t seem too likely. Even with rain and storms potentially around, we should cool back into the middle 40s as we finish out the weekend.
I Get Knocked Down, But I Get Up Again: Into Next Week
Now, I know I’m not the first Ohio Valley meteorologist to compare the temperature trend next week to English anarcho-punk band Chumbawamba, but behind the weekend front, it appears our temperatures get knocked down…but they’ll get up again. It’s spring, and you can never keep them down.

Behind the front, we’ll get some level of cooler air pushing in for our Monday, though not nearly as cold as the arctic blast we had to deal with to start last week.

We’ll slowly clear out into the afternoon hours as drier air continues to push into the region. While sunshine will break back out, it won’t necessarily bring us back to spring warmth. High temperatures will make a run at 60º, but some of us may only make it back into the upper 50s. Clear skies overnight help get those low temperatures back to average, with a pleasantly cool minimum in the upper 30s to near 40º.

Similar conditions look to prevail through the week when it comes to afternoon sunshine and clear skies overnight, though temperatures will make their improvement each afternoon mid 60s highs on Tuesday give way to a return of 70s by Wednesday as another system looks to head our way for the second half of next week. In the meantime, get out there and enjoy the nice conditions!
That’s it for me for now! You can always keep up with the latest on all of our social media platforms. Have a tremendous day and a great weekend!
