We’ve slowly moderated from a frigid start to the week on Monday. In fact, as we work into the weekend, we’re looking fantastic, with perhaps a spring preview as we head into the weekend.

High Pressure and Sunshine: Friday and Friday Night

Perhaps a rather uneventful weather weekend for once? Hey, we’ve earned it!

Our midweek soaker has finally pushed out of the region, to be replaced with high pressure settling into the region as we look to bring the curtain down on the work week. Not only that, but this high pressure is settling in from the south, which should allow some milder air to accompany the sunshine. In short…another spring preview.

As the sun shines bright throughout the early hours of our Friday, light southerly winds should help get temperatures up and over the 60 degree mark as we head into the afternoon. Just an absolutely gorgeous day to take that walk at lunch.

That’ll do! (Pivotal Weather)

We’ll calmly cool back down below average as we work past sunset on our Friday night. So, even though it will be a nice afternoon, you’re still going to want to grab some kind of jacket in the evening and nighttime hours as we fall through the 50s and 40s, on our way to a low in the upper 30s. Cool and quiet weather expected overnight.

Spring Fever: Saturday and Sunday

Saturday is the last day of February, though high temperatures will feel more like average highs should in mid-April as high pressure remains in control!

I should call a doctor…because I have SPRING FEVER! (Giphy)

That’s right! Plenty of sunshine and steady southerly flow will help temperatures soar up into the upper 60s to near 70º! We don’t normally average highs that warm until we get to around April 13! This will definitely be a day to get out and enjoy.

And you know how the models like to underestimate southwest flow! (Pivotal Weather)

Now, as is often the case when we deal with a warmup this time of year, it will come at at least some of a cost, as we do expect a return to an active pattern, though…not aggressively so, if that makes sense.

Clouds will try to be on the increase on Saturday night as our attention turns to the west ahead of another opportunity for showers along a weak system pushing in. Even so, we’re near normal for an overnight low, falling into the lower to middle 40s. In fact, we start Sunday on a nice trend as well.

(Schitt’s Creek / Giphy)

Sunshine continues through the early part of the day, with only high cloudiness slowly filtering in ahead of this next weak system. However, a slight change in our wind direction will have us a bit cooler heading into the afternoon hours.

Not bad. (Pivotal Weather)

Our wind direction will have surreptitiously switched back to the northwest overnight thanks to a weak and moisture starved frontal boundary. Temperatures should be back colder to Friday’s readings than Saturday’s numbers, with highs closer to 55º than 65º for the afternoon. Still not a bad day!

Clouds should start to build in overnight as another weak disturbance will try to scoot in our general direction late Sunday night and into our Monday. Can’t rule out some showers scooting in during the evening hours and increasing into the overnight hours. Lows hold steady in the upper 30s or around 40º or so.

Slightly Unsettled: Into Next Week

Some of those showers could linger into early in the day on Monday as our weak system pushes through. Our pattern is looking quite zonal, or west-to-east, as we start the work week. That should keep some weak systems trying to work into the region to start the month of March. Active? Perhaps a little, but closer to lamb than lion territory.

(Giphy)

A few showers may linger into the afternoon on Monday, but we’re not talking significant totals. Clouds hang tough, which should keep us only in the upper 50s to near 60º or so for daytime highs. Some clouds and showers may hang on into the overnight hours, with lows back into the middle 40s or so.

And so the pattern goes as we head deeper into the first week of March, with milder days, pleasantly cool nights and opportunities for showers. That will likely change as we head into the second half of next week as our pattern wakes up and gets more active as we head toward next weekend.

A corridor of a high likelihood of wetter than normal conditions. (Pivotal Weather)

That’s it for me for now! You can always keep up with the latest on all of our social media platforms. Have a tremendous day and a great weekend!
