After our warmup brought us showers and storms for our Thursday night, we’re keeping wet weather around…but we’re slowly cooling things off as the battle of the seasons continues.
Remaining Showery: Friday and Friday Night
As we say sayonara to the disturbance that brought us strong storms last night, it’s frontal boundary appears in no hurry to say goodbye.

Moisture quickly moving out behind our first front will not only drop the rain chances, but also clear our skies out for the daytime hours. That should help us boost high temperatures back up above normal, though not quite as warm as we have been. Low to middle 50s look reasonable for daytime highs.

However, with a diffuse stationary frontal boundary in place across the region, we’re just waiting for another disturbance to bring us the opportunity for showers as we head deeper into the weekend. We’ll start to see the signs of that overnight, with clouds on the increase.

Despite the clouds, we’ll start to slowly filter in some cooler air overnight, with lows back into the middle 30s to finish out our Friday night.
Showery Feel: Into the Weekend
Eyes turn back out west as another weak disturbance will try to hook up with the stationary boundary on top of us as we officially move into the weekend.

The cold air isn’t quite here yet, but it isn’t very far away as we wake up on Saturday. That system will bring us the opportunity for a few showers as we head deeper into the day on Saturday.

Doesn’t at this point look to be anything too heavy, but we’ll watch the passing showers push through. Perhaps complicating some of those outdoor plans made when the temperature was closer to 20º above average.

Even with the showers about, highs are back right around average on Saturday afternoon, with highs flirting back around 50º. However, things look to get potentially a little interesting as we head into Saturday night.

Colder air comes crashing in behind our system on Saturday, with temperatures plummeting down into the upper 20s to near 30º overnight. With temperatures that cold at the surface and aloft, I can’t rule out some wintry mix or even a little bit of snow late Saturday night and early Sunday…seriously!

Now, before you raid the dairy aisle, we’ve been so warm recently that we shouldn’t have to worry about any of this snow sticking or causing a big issue. But it’s a reminder that winter’s not quite over yet.

As we head into Sunday, the cold air is settling in even as we work the rain and snow chances out of the region. We may keep some around early in the day, but we should start to slowly end the precip in the afternoon. Highs look much cooler, barely making it to 40º in the afternoon. And that’s with some peeks of sunshine!
The big winter reminder comes overnight, as northwest flow really takes over, sending colder Canadian air back down into the WABBLES region. We’ll have enough moisture above our heads for some clouds, but not enough for anymore than a sprinkle or a flurry overnight. Those clouds keep us in the lower 20s overnight. Yep, winter’s back!
Cold Start to the Week
As we start the work week, we’ll be firmly ensconced in what you calendar-watchers out there call “Late February.” As such, we normally see highs start to get up into the lower to middle 50s this time of year…yeah, not to start the week.

High pressure starts to take over as we head into the Monday-Tuesday timeframe. That means that while we’ll dry out and see plenty of sunshine, temperatures will struggle…struggle to get out of the 30s. At least on Monday.

But again, the reminder of Old Man Winter’s return comes past dark on Monday night. Even though we’re slowly seeing more daylight out there as we approach the vernal equinox here in about a month, Canadian high pressure will continue its modest winning streak for now, with lows falling back into the upper teens to lower 20s. Blegh.
We’re at least back above 40º with more sunshine on Tuesday, but another chilly night in the 20s awaits us as we roll into midweek. We’ll attempt to moderate (well, at least closer to normal) by late week as we sneak some more rain chances back into the forecast.
That’s it for me for now! You can always keep up with the latest on all of our social media platforms. Have a tremendous day and a great weekend!
