Happy Monday morning, WABBLES! After a soggy and gray weekend, sunshine is finally making a comeback. This week, we’re kicking off with calm and warmer weather, but a couple of mid-week disturbances are expected to interrupt our otherwise quiet week.

Today’s Forecast

While skies cleared and winds calmed last night, dense fog has covered a large part of the WABBLES region this morning. Everyone locally except Barren and Allen counties is under a Dense Fog Advisory until 9 am this morning. As the sun rises, this fog will slowly dissipate, but still take caution on the morning commute.

Morning lows hang around the low 40s, making for a chilly start to the day. However, with predominantly sunny conditions, WABBLES quickly warms to the mid to upper 50s.

With WABBLES under another upper-level ridge and high pressure, skies remain mostly clear and the weather tranquil today. Evening temperatures fall into the lower 50s before overnight lows sink into the upper 40s.

Warmer Weather Ahead

As high pressure continues eastward, temperatures continue to increase as winds shift to a dominant southwest flow. While clouds increase on Tuesday, high temperatures still hang around the mid to upper 60s.

While we remain dry on Tuesday, a tightening pressure gradient will increase winds, with gusts up to 25-35 mph. With abundant cloud cover, Tuesday evening temperatures don’t stray too far and only fall into the lower 60s.

By Wednesday, we are back in the mid to upper 60s, as the southwest flow holds strong.

Our next system of interest pushes into the region, bringing the slight possibility for some isolated, light showers late Wednesday night. For the most part, though, WABBLES is looking at another breezy afternoon and frequent bouts of gusty winds.

A secondary system pushes a warm front into the region early Thursday morning, streaming in more warm, moist air. You might want to break the shorts back out again, WABBLES, because this warm front and increased sunshine allow Thursday’s temperatures to climb into the low to mid-70s!

However, with moisture surging in from the south and the associated cold front pushing, showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop throughout the day Thursday and into Friday.

We’ll continue to watch this mid-week disturbance and how it may influence the rain threat heading into the weekend as the week continues. For now, enjoy the warmer and calmer weather!
