Happy Monday morning, WABBLES! Things have certainly chilled out over the weekend, but this doesn’t last long here in WABBLES. While we begin the work week on the milder side, by mid-week, rain/snow chances begin to increase, and temperatures catch a ride on the polar express.

Today’s Forecast

Early morning temperatures are starting chilly in the lower 20s across the region. As a high-pressure center to our south shifts our winds from northerly to southwesterly, light winds begin to slightly warm temperatures back into the mid-40s. With plenty of sunshine today and calm weather, we are in for a relaxing and beautiful Monday.

Heading into the evening, temperatures fall back into the mid-30s before dipping into the 20s overnight.

Mild to Cold Mid-Week

Tuesday gives us one last taste of milder weather before winter returns from its little vacation. Persistent southwest winds help warm our high temperatures to the upper-50s to low 60s. However, as our pressure gradient begins to tighten ahead of our next system, winds gradually increase with gusts up to 35 mph on Tuesday afternoon.

Temperatures hang around the mid-40s on Tuesday evening, and clouds begin to increase as our next system of interest approaches.

Overnight Tuesday into early Wednesday, a deep upper-level trough digs into the eastern United States. At the surface, a developing low-pressure system over Michigan will drag two cold fronts down across WABBLES, setting the stage for a mid-week disturbance.

The first front will push through early Wednesday morning, sweeping a large swath of showers across WABBLES throughout the morning and afternoon. Temperatures remain fair, with highs in the low 40s on Wednesday afternoon, but gradually begin to decrease after the initial front passes.

As temperatures continue to drop, lingering rain showers quickly transition from rain to light snow throughout Wednesday evening. These snow showers won’t linger long and will quickly move out of WABBLES as the system progresses eastward.

The second cold front follows closely behind, ushering in a colder air mass. Overnight temperatures are expected to fall into the low 20s, accompanied by gusty winds that make it feel significantly colder.

By Thursday morning, sunshine returns, but we are back to winter mode. Temperatures start out in the low 20s and struggle to climb out of the mid-30s by the afternoon. Throughout the day, gusty winds continue to reinforce cooler conditions with windchills hanging around the 20s.
