The year’s second weekend is upon us, and things are getting much more active as we get ready to get it started…on the cooler side.
Continuing Rain Chances: Friday and Friday Night
The strong storm chances of our Thursday night continue to look to be on their way out as our Friday dawns, thank goodness.

However, the second round of rainfall from our trailing cold front still has to work through the region before we are well and truly done with this particular storm system. Gusty showers with occasional claps of thunder will continue to work through the region during the daytime hours.

I mean, we can’t completely rule out a strong storm during the day, but while the wind energy will be there, we just don’t have the instability to bring anything too significant to the ground. We’ve got a car but no gas.

With plenty of moisture and warmth in place, highs are again well above normal, topping out in the upper 60s to even near 70º if we can manage to stay a little drier. With WABBLES still out ahead of the cold front, scattered showers and thundershowers continue into the overnight hours as temperatures stay incredibly mild. We’re back into the middle 50s overnight.
Dropping Quickly Into the Weekend
As we head into the year’s second weekend, we’re finally settling back to a more wintry-like pattern as we head into the weekend.

Our cold front will slide through early in the day on Saturday, which means our high in the lower 60s will likely occur early in the day as showers begin to exit the region.

Winds really start to shift around to the north and west, providing us with much colder air spilling into the region. After starting in the 60s, cloudiness will accompany the cold wind as we fall into the 40s during the afternoon.

Clouds look to continue as the colder air filters in overnight, so lows will drop, but not dramatically as we settle into the lower 30s during the nighttime hours.
We’ll try to clear out as the sun rises on Sunday as the colder wind continues to bring dry air into the region. Despite the increase in sunshine, we won’t see much in the way of warmth returning to the region as highs only make it into the upper 30s to perhaps 40º. Appropriately chilly once again.

With clear skies and a cold air mass in place, we’ll cool quite nicely overnight. Lows are back down into the lower 20s. Getting chilly with it!
Into Next Week: Back Up and Down
The chill sticks with us through at least the early part of the week as we await high pressure slowly making its way off to the east.

Despite the likelihood for more sunshine on Monday, temperatures only respond slightly as highs make it back into the middle 40s during the day. Not far from average, but cooler than where we’ve been. We’ll continue our appropriately cool nights with clear skies helping us down into the lower 30s.
For those of who who prefer temperatures above normal, you look to be in luck toward the middle of next week!

The latest in our train of weather systems will start to kick up our next disturbance to our west on Tuesday, that’ll switch winds around to the south and west to bring milder air and moisture back to the region. Clouds will slowly encroach upon the region by Tuesday afternoon. Even so, we’re back into the lower 50s for daytime highs! Not as warm as this week, but we’ll take it!

However, that’s ahead of our next chance of rain that looks to scoot in here for the middle of the week. We’ll likely see some scattered showers break out by Wednesday afternoon, with cooler but still above average highs in the upper 40s.
This brief warm spell looks to be ahead of what continues to appear to be a rather chilly pattern heading our way by the middle of the month. So snow lovers (like yours truly), hang in there!

That’s it for me for now! You can always keep up with the latest on all of our social media platforms. Have a tremendous day and a great weekend!
