We enjoyed a nice thaw for a day or two with temperatures peaking in the lower 50s. However, things are getting cold again as winter’s chill returns for the weekend.
Friday and Friday Night: Chill Creeping In
Following a mild midweek, we’ll attempt to make another run into the upper 40s to near 50º as we watch another system head in our direction.

We will yet again have to see if or how moisture from a system to the south interacts with the cold air from a system diving south on the jet stream from the north. Depending on how these interact, we’ll see if we can squeeze any rain or snow out of this particular system.

Southerly flow should keep us relatively mild as we go through the remainder of the afternoon as clouds overspread the region. Highs look to peak in the upper 40s. However, as the front pushes through during Friday night, temperatures should tumble as we attempt to clear it out.

High pressure will attempt to work into the region through Friday night and into early Saturday, though we’re not yet to full on Arctic phase yet. It will still be cold, though, with overnight lows falling back into the lower 20s.
Continued Chill in the Air: Saturday and Sunday
Said high pressure will continue to try to work in during the day on Saturday, which should help reinforce cooler temperatures during the daytime hours.

I don’t think we’ll be able to get clouds completely out of the way on Saturday, but some sunshine will try to improve highs back up into the middle 40s during the afternoon. Don’t get used to those somewhat milder temperatures, however.

Another clipper looks to try to sneak in during the evening and overnight hours on Saturday. While it may bring us a chance for some low-impact flurries, the big impact is going to be the free-falling mercury.

Low temperatures crash as the system’s cold front pushes through thanks to breezy northwesterly winds. Despite extensive cloud cover with the system, temperatures will settle into the upper teens and lower 20s for overnight lows.

With reinforcing high pressure settling back in during the day on Sunday, we’ll be dealing with a bona fide, if temporary, blast of the Arctic. Despite increasing sunshine, some of us may not make it out of the 20s for daytime highs, with the warmest among us only making it to near 30º or so.

That arctic trend continues during the evening and overnight hours. Clear skies, light winds, and sinking air should have lows tumbling back into the upper teens to near 20º or so for an overnight low. Though, it’s increasingly looking like this may be the last gasp for this particular cooldown.
Slightly Milder: Into Next Week
The active pattern will continue as we head into next week, though it doesn’t look like we’ll have nearly the arctic component settling in as we flip the calendar to next week.

Heading into Monday, we’re part of a squeeze play yet again, with a southern system trying to sneak in here to link up with colder air spilling down from Canada. However, it doesn’t appear the super cold air has the advantage in this situation.

Milder air should try to filter in with this southern system during the day on Monday, along with the opportunity for a spotty shower or two. Highs should make it up into the lower 40s, though some upper 30s can’t be ruled out in areas that keep thicker cloud cover. Any spotty shower chances should be maximized late in the day and into the nighttime hours. With lows dipping into the upper 20s, some stray, low-impact wintry weather can’t be ruled out.

Warmer air continues to spill in from the south on Tuesday as scattered showers continue. This mid-month thaw should feature temperatures getting back up into the upper 40s to near 50º depending on just how the frontal boundaries set up. However, another clipper-style system may try to sneak in later in the week that could bring another brief cooldown as we finish the week up.
That’s it for me for now! You can always keep up with the latest on all of our social media platforms. Have a tremendous day and a great weekend!
