Good Monday morning, WABBLES. We’re catching a break from last week’s bitter cold flurry fest and welcoming back that mild December weather for a couple of days. Although some minor disturbances creep their way back into the region as we continue through the work week. Let’s go ahead and dive into the details of this week!

Today’s Forecast

Parts of WABBLES are waking up to some lingering light rain/snow showers from last night’s quick system. Morning temperatures are starting chilly in the upper 20s to lower 30s before high temperatures hang around the mid 30s for the day.

We’ll remain dry for the rest of the day, and clouds will slowly decrease. Overnight lows dip back into the 20s, making for another chilly night in WABBLES.

So, About That “Warm up”

Well, don’t get your hopes up too much, WABBLES; these warmer temperatures aren’t anything too impressive, but they do provide a nice break from winter.

By Tuesday, high pressure to our southeast will shift our northerly winds to some warmer southwesterly winds. Morning temperatures start in the upper 20s again, but quickly warm into the low to mid 40s for our highs.

However, with high pressure to our south and a developing low-pressure system to our north, a strong pressure gradient forms right over Kentucky. Our winds here in WABBLES will pick up on Tuesday and will get a bit gusty at times.

By Wednesday, we keep our southwesterly winds, and highs reach back into the mid-50s!

However, that pressure gradient becomes even tighter, and we will likely see even faster winds on Wednesday with gusts up to 30 mph. While we get to see some temperatures in the 50s again, this wind will make it feel a bit cooler with windchills back in the 40s.

Additionally, a cold front is set to move into the region throughout the day on Wednesday, which will kick off some rain showers in WABBLES throughout the morning and afternoon.

High temperatures on Thursday hang around the mid-40s before northwest winds begin to cool them again. Yet another system is expected to work its way into the region that is likely to bring back some rain and wintry mixed showers. In case you were missing that wintry feel, a frigid airmass from Canada follows closely behind this system as we head into the weekend.

We’ll continue to watch these systems as they move in, but for now, hold on to your hats because things are about to get windy.
