I hope everyone had their fill of turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, etc. yesterday as we gave thanks! If not…well hit the fridge, eat those leftovers! And warm em up good, because we’ve got some chilly air diving down to finish up Thanksgiving weekend.
Chilly Shopping: Friday and Friday Night
You’ll definitely want to grab the coat if you’re up early for the doorbusters, as high pressure starts to build into the region from our north…but only for so long.

Chilly weather continues throughout the day today, despite the abundance of sunshine we’ll see, especially early in the day. We’ll still only manage to peak in the lower 40s for daytime highs as clouds start to increase ahead of our next weathermaker…that unfortunately looks to roll in just in time for the trek home from your Thanksgiving trip.

Overnight lows settle back into the middle and upper 20s with the clouds increasing.
Getting Messy: Saturday and Sunday
However, our reprieve from messy weather looks short-lived as we head into the back half of the holiday weekend. That’s thanks to the latest in our series of storm systems that don’t seem to want to leave us alone this Autumn.

As this storm draws closer on Saturday and into Sunday, we’ll have to watch for perhaps a little bit of wintry shenanigans with the system pushing in. However, as this system pushes in, we’ll also be bringing in warmer air with it, so we’ll quickly change over to all rain.

We’ll start the day dry, with perhaps a little bit of sunshine. Highs, though, only make it into the middle 40s clouds increase ahead of our system.
We’ll likely see precip start during the late evening into the overnight Saturday and into Sunday. While a couple of flakes or sleet pellets can’t be ruled out, we’ll quickly switch over to a steady cold rain. That looks to continue into the day on Sunday, matching your mood as your turkey coma stretches into its fourth day.

With clouds and showers around, highs stay chilly, into the middle 40s. We’ll try to make the showers more scattered into Sunday night as colder air continues to filter back in. Overnight lows are back into the middle 20s as showers taper off.
Note to anyone who has or knows anyone who traveled up closer to St. Louis or Chicago, where this storm will be more significantly wintry up that way. Stay up to date on the evolution of this system.
Starting December: Into Next Week
Meteorological winter officially begins on Monday and the weather will certainly feel like it as a wintry cold settles into the region.

Showers should be gone as we wake up from our long turkey nap on Monday, a wonderful greeting as we head back to work and school. However, scattered clouds will continue since another system will be hot (or cold) on our weekend storm’s heels. Highs only make it into the upper 30s to near 40º, with clouds increasing in the afternoon and into the nighttime hours. Lows are in the upper 20s.
We’ll be watching this next system closely because depending on temperature profiles and the timing of this system, we could be looking at an opportunity for at least a little bit in the way of wintry shenanigans as we head toward midweek. Some snow or wintry mix may be possible as we head into Tuesday and Wednesday. However, it is still much too early to dive into the details. It will all depend on how a developing low pressure to our south will interact with cold air filtering in behind the weekend system to our north.

It’ll be cold regardless, with highs hanging in the upper 30s to low 40s, with nighttime temps in the lower 20s. Don’t you worry, we’ll be keeping eyes on it!
That’s it for me for now! You can always keep up with the latest on all of our social media platforms. Have a tremendous day and a great weekend!
