Heavy rain has made a return to WABBLES following a recent dry spell. It’s all part of the active pattern that looks to roll right on through Thanksgiving Week.

Heavy Rain Returns: Friday and Friday Night

We have been tracking not only this active pattern, but this specific trough and low pressure for at least a week or two. And quite frankly, I’m pretty tired of it!

If I have to think about this storm system one more time. (Giphy / TV Land)

However, our eyes turn to the west again as we await yet more showers and thunderstorms to come rumbling into the region as we head through our day on Friday.

Showers be scattered. (Pivotal Weather)

Not dissimilar to Tuesday, we’ll keep an eye on for a strong wind gust or two, but the main calling card with these once again looks to be heavy rain.

The NAM isn’t too excited. But it has trouble with rain amounts from scattered thunderstorms. (Pivotal Weather)

Ahead of the showers and storms, things will be quite mild again, with highs back into the middle and upper 60s. We may flirt with 70º if the rain can hold off later into the afternoon. As showers and thunderstorms continue into the evening and overnight hours, we remain above average for overnight lows. We only make it down into the lower 50s during the overnight hours.

Weekend Improvement: Saturday and Sunday

Well, what goes down must come back up again, and that’s where we’re settling as we head into the weekend, with our system pushing away on Saturday.

And good riddance! (Giphy / Hulu)

Clouds and showers will be with us as we greet the dawn on Saturday, however, as our system continues to push on out of the region. However, even as our system pushes out, we won’t exactly cool a ton behind this system, especially if we can break out into a little bit of afternoon sunshine.

Well, we’ll try. (Pivotal Weather)

Relatively tranquil conditions remain with us as we head into our Saturday night as well. Skies look to remain partly cloudy, with lows falling back into the middle 40s. A trend that will continue into the day on Sunday.

Brief high pressure will scoot into the region to finish up the weekend, which should allow us to dry out from our early weekend shenanigans and also warm up nicely.

Again, we’ll try. (Pivotal Weather)

High temperatures during the afternoon hours should get up into the lower to middle 60s as clouds start to sneak back into the picture as the sun sets just after lunch…okay, maybe not just after lunch, but absurdly early.

In any case, our next system will be working our way as we head into Sunday night, and with increasing clouds and perhaps a shower near daybreak, we’re back to lows only in the lower 40s.

Turkey Week Ahoy: Into Next Week

Depending on our moisture, we may escape dry early on Monday morning, but it will be cool to start in the 40s. That filtered sunshine will once again take us through the day on Monday as we’re gearing up for our latest system to start pushing into the region.

Me watching the models for next week. (Giphy)

However, clouds look to thicken through the day as our next system starts to nose on in. Southerly winds will allow highs to make it back into the mild mid 60s during the afternoon, bringing that moisture back in.

Showers look to start to overspread the region on Monday night and lingering into Tuesday as this system lingers through. Severe weather is not expected, but I can’t rule out some thunder and lightning, in addition to bouts of heavy rain at times. We’re back into the middle 60s on Tuesday after a morning low in the lower 50s. That just might make your early Turkey Day travels a bit on the yucky side.

Come on, man. I just want some turkey. (Pivotal Weather)

We try to dry things back out Tuesday night into Wednesday as colder air tries to make a well-advertised plunge back into the region. Highs on Wednesday only make it into the upper 50s, but it looks like we could be back to 40s or even 30s for highs for Thanksgiving Day and beyond. Talk about a whole new definition of “cold turkey.” We’ll have to see if another system could maybe want to sneak in and bring us some festive flakes as we get poised to start December.

That’s it for me for now! You can always keep up with the latest on all of our social media platforms. Have a tremendous day and a great weekend!
