After a bitterly cold start to the week around WABBLES we have rebounded quite nicely as we head into the weekend. But, as usual for this time of year, the warmth portends a chance for rain.
Nice and Warm: Friday and Friday Night
High pressure has been in control of our weather through much of the back half of the work week. This has kept things calm and increasingly mild as we’ve gone along, and there’s no exception to the rule as we close out the work week.

There’s a small chance for a sprinkle early on our Friday with a very weak system passing on by, though there’s not much in the way of moisture for it to work with. At most, many of us will only see a few extra clouds sneaking through. Otherwise, we’re in for another mild day.

Plentiful afternoon sunshine should allow highs to jump into the 60s, with perhaps our warmest locations sneaking to near 70º!

Dry weather should continue into the evening hours as our remaining playoff teams suit up for their second round matchups. With the setting of the sun, we should cool quickly and nicely through the 60s and into the upper 50s during the games, with partly cloudy skies overnight keeping us from getting too cool. Lows should fall back into the lower to middle 50s.
Springlike: Saturday and Sunday
High pressure will continue its trek on to the east, which shouldn’t change our weather too much, except to enhance that warm return flow from the south.

That’s indeed correct! Sunshine will continue for much of the day, though some filtered sunshine will try to sneak in during the afternoon and evening hours as our next disturbance starts to rumble closer to the region. Daytime highs on Saturday should peak in the lower to even middle 70s! In mid-November!

However, eyes will turn to the north and west for our next chance at some showers. A frontal boundary will try to swing through late Saturday night and into Sunday, however…the models continue to be unimpressed.

We just don’t have a ton of moisture to speak of as this frontal boundary swings through. What we will see is at least an influx of clouds late Saturday night, which should keep temperatures quite mild, with lows in the middle 50s.
We might be able to squeeze out a couple of showers late Saturday and into the day on Sunday but this boundary doesn’t have a ton of “oomph” behind it. That’s right, it’s oomph-less.

Outside of some showers, partly to mostly sunny skies will return as highs make another run into the upper 60s to near 70º. That frontal boundary should swing through during the day, eventually bringing slightly cooler air back into the region. Overnight lows Sunday night should drop back into the upper 40s.
Active Pattern Returns: Into Next Week
After the arctic blast that greeted us to start last week, we spent much of the rest of the week with rather tranquil weather. However, that pendulum will swing quickly back the other direction as we head into the third week of the month.

For us, this means attention turns to the west as stronger storm systems start to come off the front range of the Rockies and head our way as soon as the early part of next week.
We’re back to milder air for the day on Monday, but with partly cloudy skies as highs are back into the middle 60s during the day. However, clouds will be on the increase heading later and later in the day. Showers will be on the increase during the overnight hours, with lows back into the upper 40s.

Those showers linger into Tuesday on another mild day in the lower to middle 60s. After that, things get even more active.

Models are not handling this kind of pattern very well, but warmth and moisture look to continue to build across at least the southern states as another trough looks to work in from the four corners region. This will bring the potential for showers and thunderstorms back to the forecast for the later part of next week and into next weekend.

There’s still plenty of time to watch this signal in the data, but it’s something we’ll have to watch closely since we are in the heart of the “second” severe weather season.
That’s it for me for now! You can always keep up with the latest on all of our social media platforms. Have a tremendous day and a great weekend!
