It’s been a cool and breezy week around WABBLES so far, however, rain chances aren’t far away as we continue our rather unsettled pattern right on into Halloween week.

Moisture on the Increase: Friday and Friday Night

We’ll open up our day on Friday just like we’ve opened the last few days, on a rather cool and crisp note.

High pressure that has been in place over the last few days will slowly start to work to the east as we watch our latest disturbance start to push in from the west. However, it doesn’t look to arrive yet on Friday.

Now that’s a nice afternoon. (Pivotal Weather)

That should lead to yet another sun-drenched afternoon that should help burn off that early morning frost. The plentiful sunshine should bring highs back up into the upper 60s to near 70º.

Acceptable. (Giphy / Brooklyn Nine-Nine)

However, as southerly flow increases during the day, we’ll continue to bring moisture back into the atmosphere as we head into the afternoon and into the evening hours. While rainfall won’t be a concern, we will see an increase in cloud cover above those Friday night lights throughout the region.

Said clouds cover will keep lows from getting too chilly overnight, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility that jackets will be needed as we finish up those games on the gridiron during the late evening. Overnight lows will likely drop into the upper 40s, with perhaps some mid 40s in our usually cool locations.

Rain Chances Return: Saturday and Sunday

After a nice break from the wet stuff, rain chances look to make a return to the region and, naturally, that return will be during the weekend.

Cloud cover will continue to overspread WABBLES during the daytime hours of Saturday as the moisture continues to filter in ahead of this southern stream system. Even with the cloud cover, though, the southerly wind component will continue to bring in warmer air, which should allow highs to make it up into the upper 60s and lower 70s.

And you know how models underdo warm air. (Pivotal Weather)

However, we’ll still need to saturate the entire column of the atmosphere before we see any rain fall, so I think things will likely stay dry during the day, but some showers may try to sneak in as we head into the overnight hours.

Well, attempts will be made. (Pivotal Weather)

Clouds and the potential for a few showers will keep things milder during the overnight hours, with lows falling into the lower 50s.

A similar theme continues into the day on Sunday. Scattered clouds combined with a few showers and southerly winds will keep us mild during the day, with highs back in the lower 70s. We’ll try to see some showers work back into the region in earnest. Well, attempts will be made…again.

NAM is rather bullish on rain chances, but a good chunk of this may fall victim to the Dry Air Monster. (Pivotal Weather)

By no means will this be a washout of a day, but we’ll be on the lookout for a shower or two during the daytime hours, heading on into the evening as well as this system continues to push to the east.

Showers will continue to drift through as we work through the overnight hours, with lows back into the lower 50s.

Strong System for Halloween Week

The models have handled early parts of next week about as well as I handle endurance running. That is to say, not at all.

The GFS and the European have been battling it out for the better part of the last week trying to lock on the progression of a big-time trough and resulting weather system headed across the nation’s midsection.

However, it now appears to have locked on to a comparatively more tranquil solution that will keep us cooler and slightly wetter as we head through the week.

With the clouds and showers of this southern stream system still working through, our Monday will stay cool and a little on the wet side.

Just a raw fall day. (Pivotal Weather)

Shower chances will continue into the overnight on Monday and last on into Tuesday as well. After daytime highs around 60º or so, we’re back into the upper 40s to lower 50s overnight. That same general pattern should repeat for Tuesday.

This upper-low will then look to get stuck in our general vicinity, and will attempt to pinwheel showers into the region for Wednesday and into Thursday as well. Models still don’t have a great handle on this, so check back often as adjustments will likely continue right on into our Halloween.

That’s it for me for now! You can always keep up with the latest on all of our social media platforms. Have a tremendous day and a great weekend!
