WABBLES has finally broken out of our rainless rut with a nicely rain-filled week. And the best news is that things are clearing up just in time for a very nice early fall weekend.
Sunshine Returns: Friday and Friday Night
High pressure looks to settle back into the region as we close up shop on this work week, though it will continue to slowly nose in, kicking our previous weathermaker out of the region.

While sunshine will continue to be the predominant weather feature headed into the weekend, I can’t completely rule out a scattered shower during the heat of the afternoon, but many of us stay dry and milder, with highs in the upper 70s to near 80º.
However, the air will be quite dry and getting dryer into the afternoon and evening hours. That will allow temperatures to tumble quickly as the sun goes down. By the time we get to kickoff for high school football, we’ll be falling through the 70s and into the 60s for the evening. Perhaps light jacket territory by the end of the game?

Into the overnight hours, clear skies will have us falling back into the upper 50s for overnight lows.
Warm and Sunny: Saturday and Sunday
High pressure continues to dominate our weather into the day on Saturday as well, bringing us yet another nice and sunny day.

Dry air will help expand the ol’ diurnal range thanks to the sunshine and modified airmass allowing afternoon highs to get back up into at least the lower 80s.

Picture it now. Hoodie and shorts weather on the porch in the morning with that hot cup of your favorite caffeine-providing beverage. That becomes a comfortable-in-short-sleeves afternoon with ample sunshine. That’s a perfect fall day.

Heading into the evening, temperatures will quickly temper from the 70s and down into the 60s. It’s excellent bonfire weather, especially after the week’s rain has helped us out in the dry fuels category. Overnight lows look to settle back into the upper 50s yet again.
We’ll try to claw back a couple of more degrees on the ol’ thermometer.

A ridge of high pressure will once again start to build across the central US and try to sneak into the region on Sunday. This will keep us dry and sunny, but also allow temperatures to make it perhaps up into the middle 80s during the afternoon hours.

Outside of a few scattered clouds, skies should remain on the mostly sunny side working through the afternoon. With the drier air and the clear skies through the evening, we should easily start to drop into the upper 50s to lower 60s overnight.
Warm and Mostly Dry: Into Next Week
As is so often the case in late September, our weather depends not only on the usually predictable timing of the ol’ jet stream, but also what tropical trouble Mother Nature has up her sleeve.

While we wait to see how things shake out in the western Atlantic between a couple of disturbances the models want to spin up out there and our old friend the cut-off low, Monday looks like another warm and sunny day.

The upper ridge of high pressure will remain in place, allowing highs to jet back up into the middle 80s for daytime highs. While it will remain warm, things look to remain on the dry side both precipitationally (not a word, but i like it), and atmospherically. That means that we’ll easily be able to get back into the lower 60s at night.
Scattered clouds may try to make it back into the mix as we start to see the influence of a low pressure off to our south and east.

Despite this, it should still be a warm day on Tuesday as highs make it back into the 80s, with similar conditions on the way for Wednesday. However, we’re still watching models that try to bring some clouds and perhaps some showers back to the region during this time. It’s something we’ll continue to keep an eye on through the weekend and into next week.
That’s it for me for now! You can always keep up with the latest on all of our social media platforms. Have a tremendous day and a great weekend!
