WABBLES has worked through the first week of September with some of the better rain chances that we’ve seen in awhile, but that looks to lead to another beautiful weekend upcoming.
Strong Storm Potential: Friday and Friday Night
Drier air briefly worked into the region during the morning hours, but we’ll expect that to scour out quickly as we watch southerly flow return ahead of our latest cold front pushing into the region.
Gusty southerly breezes will bump highs up into the lower 90s as dew points surge back into the 60s. Warmth, moisture, wind energy…all the ingredients are in place for strong to severe thunderstorms into the late afternoon and evening hours.
This is not some major severe weather threat, but it is our first opportunity for organized severe weather in a couple of months. Damaging winds and large hail will be primary threats, but we can never rule out the potential for an isolated tornado.
The best chance for any severe weather will be in the evening, but clouds and showers should continue to work through the region during the overnight hours…some rumbles of thunder will be possible as well. Lows will be back into the upper 50s once the storms push out.
Nicer Air: Saturday and Sunday
The cooler drier air is back (back back)… back again as we head into Saturday and Sunday.
Now, some clouds will be present on Saturday morning, along with what’s left of the early day showers as our latest front pushes east.
After starting near 60º, we’ll try to get sunshine to creep back in into the afternoon hours, which should get us back into the upper 70s to near 80º. Now that’s a nice weekend afternoon.
Dry air and clear skies will allow us to drop those temperatures quickly as we head into the overnight hours, back into the lower 50s…with perhaps some upper 40s in those sheltered locations.
Looks like we’ll do it again as we head into our Sunday.
Canadian high pressure will have set up in the region for the second half of the weekend, and that means we’ll likely be dealing with more sunshine after a crisp start to our Sunday morning. However, that dry air will allow temperatures to warm up nicely as we head into the afternoon.
Highs look to get back up into upper 70s to near 80º out there as we get ready to draw down the curtain on September’s first weekend (technically).
Dry air means that after another gorgeous day, clear skies will allow us to slip back into the middle and upper 50s for overnight lows.
Changeable Weather: Into Next Week
The high pressure maintains its strength into the early part of the new work week, with things remaining rather comfortable on Monday.
Looks like our pattern will fall back into a more stagnant pattern as we head toward the middle of the week or so. That means we’ll be relaxing with plenty sunshine on Tuesday and into Wednesday as temperatures look to settle back into the lower 80s during the afternoons.
