It’s been the heat and the humidity around WABBLES throughout summer so far, and there’s no sign that it’s going to let up any time soon.

Persistence Forecast: Friday and Friday Night

Without much to shake up the weather pattern to finish up this week and head into the weekend, we are looking at what we in the biz call a persistence forecast. A.k.a no change.

All familiar but the sand. (Giphy)

We continue to watch southerly winds stream moisture in from the Gulf as our ridge of high pressure continues to exert its dominance on our weather pattern. This means that we will continue to see hot and humid conditions as we head into the weekend, with only a small chance at a little relief.

Scattered about. Widespread severe? No. Potentially briefly heavy rain and gusty winds? Yes. (Pivotal Weather)

Friday afternoon will once again be excessively steamy as temperatures climb back into the lower to middle 90s. Combine that with dew points well into the 70s and we once again are looking at heavy indices creeping near to above 100º or so.

Our only hope for a little relief will be your typical summertime pop-up storms in the heat of the afternoon. And while those might cool you down for a bit, once the sun pops back out, we’re back to hot and humid again. Oh, late June.

A/C continues its thankless job overnight, because we don’t fall much below the lower to middle 70s for overnight lows under partly cloudy skies.

Slightly Better Chance at Relief: Saturday and Sunday

The persistence forecast keeps on persisting for the most part into the weekend, with perhaps a slightly better chance at a cooling storm.

Our ridge of high pressure may start to weaken a tad as we head into Saturday as a weak impulse tries to move along its northern edge. For us, that means…well, mostly the same.

I really hope that smell is actual bacon cooking. (PIvotal Weather)

We’ll quickly heat up into the 90s through the morning hours with plenty of sunshine to start off our Saturday. However, the heat and humidity, combined with the weak disturbance nearby, should fire off at least a few more showers and storms as we head into the afternoon.

Roaming rumblers. (Pivotal Weather)

Widespread severe weather isn’t expected, but any one of these storms could contain tremendously heavy rain and some brief gusty winds as they collapse in on themselves. If your pool party manages to avoid a storm, things will stay hot and humid, with highs in the lower 90s and heat indices in the upper 90s to near 100º.

Showers and storms should diminish with the setting of the sun, with lows back into the middle 70s.

It’s more of the same on Sunday as well.

I’M TIRED OF THIS GRAMPA (Giphy)

With the heat and humidity around and a disturbance in the area, we’ll likely see showers and storms bubble up around the region once again in the torrid afternoon highs of the lower 90s.

Spotty, spotty. (Pivotal Weather)

Heat indices may be a touch lower if we can get a few more clouds around to keep us from getting too hot, but we’re still talking middle and upper 90s on the feels-like-o-meter. We’re back into the lower to middle 70s overnight as showers and storms diminish with the setting of the sun.

Perhaps some relief?: Into Next Week

Our pattern doesn’t look like it’ll change much this weekend, but perhaps some relief is in our future as we officially kick off July.

I am once again begging for less humidity. (Giphy)

Our upper ridge dominated pattern may start to break down in earnest as we work into the day on Monday and Tuesday. As we start to settle more into a northwest flow pattern, we’ll likely see an uptick in our afternoon shower and thunderstorm chances.

The Summertime Special, as always. (Pivotal Weather)

That increase in clouds and storms should keep highs at least slightly lower, but still toasty and steamy, topping out in the lower 90s for daytime highs. Heat indices remain in the middle and upper 90s outside of storms thanks to the humidity in place.

We’ll try to cool things down toward the middle of the week as clouds and storms become more abundant. We may only make it into the upper 80s for highs by Tuesday and Wednesday. Maybe not the return of spring-like comfort, but more typical summertime numbers are to be expected.

That’s it for me for now! You can always keep up with the latest on all of our social media platforms. Have a tremendous day and a great weekend!
