Our initial round of strong winds moved through the WABBLES community around daybreak, with numerous power outages being reported. Our peak gust across our coverage area so far has been registered in Simpson County at 50 mph.

After the swath of rain shifts east of the area, we’re expecting a dry slot to nose in from the southwest. This will aide our atmosphere in transporting the stronger winds up in the atmosphere down to the surface.

In addition to this, we’ll stand the chance at seeing a line of broken cells develop in the dry slot, especially if some breaks of sunshine appear, that could intensify quickly. The latest from the SPC keeps us in a 1/5 risk this afternoon for inclement/severe weather.

Temps crash following the passing of an occluded front this evening. This will turn winds out of the northwest, with a Wind Advisory for gusts of 35-45+ mph in place this evening through 6am Saturday. A few light snow showers might squeeze out a sparse dusting for some.

That’s it for this quick update. The focus on our potential winter weather maker late Sunday into next week will take center stage starting tomorrow. For the remainder of today, stay safe and weather aware, fellow WABBLErS!
