Good Monday morning, WABBLES! On this cozy Columbus Day, we’re breaking the hoodies and sweatpants back out as fall finally arrives in Southern Kentucky. Summer’s had her fill, and now that we’re moving into October proper we’ll begin to see fewer days with high temperatures around the mid-80s, which will definitely delight those of us who are sick and tired of that summer sweat. But the chillier air we’re feeling now isn’t permanent, so don’t pack away the shorts and t-shirts for the season just yet. We’re breaking the forecast down together, in today’s weather blog!
Today’s Forecast
We are sunny and temperate to start off the second week of October, with high temperatures expected to peak at around 70 degrees by mid-afternoon. However, we’ll fall back into the mid-40s by sundown, so staying warm will be a priority after dark. A local area of high pressure behind the cold front that just swept across the region will keep it dry and largely cloudless over the course of the day, so overall we’re looking forward to a really comfortable and temperate October Monday!
How Long Will this Fall Blast Last?
Good question! Right now, we’re planning on seeing warmer temperatures slowly recover in the WABBLES area over the course of the week, with highs leaning more toward 80 degrees by Wednesday afternoon. But as we shift into a more fall-typical weather pattern, precipitation chances will pick up, ushered in by the frontal systems that bring these changes in temperature. With that being said, a second wave of cold air is possible on Thursday night into Friday, which will likely bring with it some more rain chances. In summary, expect the chill to recede mid-week before pushing back in with a vengeance this weekend!
That’s about all we’ve got for you today, WABBLES! Enjoy these delightfully dry early-Autumn days, because the weather will pick up a bit once we enter into the second storm season later this fall. As long as you’re prepared and remember to keep an eye on the blog here and our Twitter page, you’ll be just fine. Until tomorrow, stay safe out there folks! We’ll see you later!
