It’s another beautiful Monday morning, friends of WABBLES and beyond! After an extraordinarily eventful weekend of serious storm action, today we are in for a bit of a reprieve before tomorrow, the Fourth of July! Yes, you heard that right: no rumbles of thunder or torrential rainfall are expected through this evening, but what about the holiday? Will this pleasant break in foul weather last through the rest of the week? We’ll break it all down together in today’s weather blog!
Today’s Forecast
Today’s headline is all about the promising lack of unpleasant storminess, which will be an excellent break for those of us who are tired of the endless stream of torrential rains and gusty winds. Temperatures will peak around the high-80s by mid-afternoon today, with minimal cloud cover to keep those rays at bay. You’ll want to keep some sunblock handy before sundown, when temperatures will dip down to the high-60s by nightfall.
Below is the Storm Prediction Center’s Convective Outlook for the nation through this evening. Note the way that WABBLES is mostly split between a Slight and Marginal Risk outlook, which is an encouraging sight after the last several days of non-stop Slight and Enhanced Risk outlooks for our area! Convective Available Potential Energy values (or CAPE values) for WABBLES are expected to be MUCH lower today than they have been in recent days, where we have seen record levels of “storm fuel” out there to keep our nasty weather brewing, so even if a pop-up shower were to appear in the vicinity, it’s not going to have much juice to work with.
What About Independence Day?
Good question! As of now, the Fourth of July is definitely not looking like a washout. We will have both higher temperatures and slightly higher CAPE values unfortunately, which will make it easier for any pop-up shower to cause a little bit of a ruckus. But we aren’t expecting to see any activity on the radar until the peak heating hours of the day, which will end up being mid-to-late afternoon. You’ll definitely be able to host that Independence Day cookout, but don’t be surprised if you and your guests end up ducking inside ahead of a passing garden-variety summer shower!
The Weather Prediction Center’s Quantitative Precipitation Forecast for the next 48 hours is promising; only Barren and Allen counties are forecast to see more than a passing sprinkle by the evening of the Fourth, so don’t let the weather get in the way of your plans! Whatever way you celebrate, the folks here at wxornotBG are wishing you all a fun-filled Independence Day full of fellowship and laughter with the people you love the most.
Wrap It Up!
That’s all the weather we’ve got for you today, WABBLES! Once again, we hope you enjoy the sun and clear skies today ahead of the holiday tomorrow. Enjoy it as much as you can, because with the end of this week comes the return of more sporadic showers, believe it or not! No matter what, we’ll be here every morning with a new blog to make sure you’re always up-to-date on the latest forecast, rain or shine. And with that, we’ll take our leave! Have a wonderful day WABBLES family, and take care of yourselves out there!
