Good Monday morning, WABBLES! We’re closing out the month of April this week with scattered storms possible here in our area over the next several days. As we enter the warmer months, spring storm activity will pick up a fair amount, though they won’t always be severe. The same is the case for today, where we’ll likely have some rumbles of thunder move in this evening and into the overnight hours. But how disruptive will those storms be? And which days will be the driest in the upcoming week? We’ll go through it together in today’s weather blog!
Today’s Forecast
We’re hitting comfortable highs in the low-80s today in WABBLES, as bright sunshine and clear skies warm us up quickly before the early afternoon. Cloud coverage increases as well as our potential for storms beginning around 5:00 PM, as a line of sub-severe thunderboomers will start closing in by sundown and move through the area into the nighttime hours. The biggest risk with this line will likely be gusty winds and torrential rain until it makes its way off to the east in the early morning hours on Tuesday, but we aren’t expecting to see any severe hail or tornado potential.
Storms Continue Closing In This Week
Though we’ll be through with that wave of foul weather by late Tuesday morning, we’ll see a few more opportunities for scattered showers in the afternoon hours, as well as later in the week. Though none of these chances at rain seem concerning for us now, it’s important to get into the mindset that we’re entering our usual stormy season here in WABBLES, and we’ll see fewer long dry periods of weather as a result. Below is the Weather Prediction Center’s Quantitative Precipitation Forecast, showing WABBLES receiving about an inch of rainfall through the end of the month.
Other than our chance of seeing some scattered storms this week, we are largely comfortably warm and not too sticky as we continue closing in on the month of May. WABBLES will see temperatures fluctuate from the high-70s to mid-80s throughout the week, with some moments of gorgeous sunshine in between possible rainshowers. As our WKU students finish out their classes and seniors graduate with their degrees this Friday, we’ll have your graduation and weekend forecasts here on the blog later this week. Until then, keep up with us on Twitter for the latest weather info as it comes out! Have a great day, folks, and we’ll see you again on Wednesday!
