Good Monday morning, WABBLES! We’re knee-deep into April, and true to spring storm season, we’re hopping back into the fray of an active weather pattern. After a few calmer days in recent memory, we’ve got some lingering showers this morning before rain returns to close out the week. How long will those showers last? And are we worried about the return of severe weather? We’ll go through it all together in today’s weather blog!

Today’s Forecast

The good news is that WABBLES dries out quickly this afternoon following the frontal passage that came through early this morning, bringing some scattered rain showers and slightly cooler temperatures! We’ll warm back up into the mid-70s by this afternoon, however, kicking off a warming trend that’ll continue through the rest of the week. Breezy winds will ensure things don’t get too steamy, and we’ll enjoy the relatively calmer conditions that’ll keep things dry through Wednesday night before rain once again works its way into the forecast.

April Showers Return Thursday?

That’s the idea! We’ll enjoy a few days of warmer, drier weather before temperatures in the low-80s and some slight instability begin to work their way back into the region. Wednesday will remain dry, but as we go into the overnight hours, opportunities for some scattered showers and storms will start to increase. Coverage for these showers will increase into the daytime Thursday, where everyone across WABBLES will likely see more consistent moderate rainfall with the occasional rumble of thunder. And this trend… continues through the weekend, unfortunately!

Don’t fret too much for those of you who might be intimidated at the thought of continuous rain and storms after the flooding we experienced at the beginning of April. We’ll likely have some good dry breaks in between rounds of showers and storms, and this system is currently a lot less organized than the stationary boundary that brought us that extreme rainfall. WABBLES will likely end up getting a good soaking out of it, but instead of a foot of precipitation, we’re thinking more like around two inches through Monday of next week.

Isolated locations could see more, but these April showers should bring a pretty nice soaking across WABBLES. (COD)

We aren’t currently concerned about any severe weather outbreaks with this little rainy conga line, though some rumbles of thunder and gusty winds could be possible with any of the stronger updrafts buried within the showers themselves. We’ll be keeping an eye on it, of course, as we head into the end of the work week.

That’s about all we’ve got for you today, WABBLES! As always, thanks for tuning in. Make sure to keep up with us over on the Twitter page, as that’s where we often post the most consistent and frequent forecast updates as they happen. We’ll be here through the rest of our rainy April just like we’ll be here all year; covering all the latest weather to make sure you stay safe and dry. Check in later this week for a new blog covering our wet weekend, but until then, take care, y’all!
