If we’re being technical about it, WABBLES is about to head into the final week of Meteorological Spring. However, things will feel like anything but as we head into our Memorial Day Weekend.

Quieting down: Friday and Friday Night

With our severe threat long gone, we’ll enjoy some drier weather in place as we head into the Memorial Day weekend.

Despite the drier weather–and us heading for the unofficial start of summer–things are looking cooler but nice.

You won’t be needing these! (Giphy)

Cooler, drier air continues to filter in from the north and west during the day as a few high clouds work in our direction. Plenty of sunshine expected, though, as highs make it into the lower 70s during the afternoon. I mean, a nearly perfect afternoon.

Into the overnight hours, things will cool down nicely, but perhaps a couple of degrees milder than we’ve been. Lows should dip down into the lower 50s, with perhaps a few outlying valley spots getting into the upper 40s. Below normal for late May!

Showers Increase: Saturday and Sunday

Another disturbance will try to sneak in from the north as we stay mostly cooler than normal into Memorial Day weekend.

That, combined with cooler than normal temperatures, should keep our rain threat to mainly scattered showers as we head through the day on Saturday. Though, it shouldn’t rain all day. In fact, we may start the day dry before showers try to work in late.

The NAM’s not impressed. (Pivotal Weather)

Highs will remain in the lower to middle 70s during the afternoon, though we could stay a little cooler if clouds hang around. Some showers could continue overnight with lows back into the lower 60s.

Unfortunately, outdoor plans look less likely to go off without a hitch on Sunday.

Not again. (Giphy)

Our pinwheeling system will bring more showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two back to the region as we head through the day.

Oh good, more showers. (Pivotal Weather)

Even with clouds and showers on the way back in, we may be able to drum up just enough warmth to make it into the middle 70s or so for highs. Severe weather is not expected, but some heavy rain can’t be ruled out. Some of those showers last into the overnight as lows fall back into the lower 60s.

This system also may linger into Memorial Day itself.

Spotty Showers: Memorial Day and Beyond

Our lingering low will continue to bring us showers and perhaps a storm or two as we head into Memorial Day. Not the best for outdoor activities.

To be clear, I don’t think it will rain all day, but if you are doing anything outside for Memorial Day, you will need to have a backup plan to bring it inside…for at least a few minutes.

And you’ll want to head outside too, because while it may be a touch muggy, it’ll still be really nice as highs will make it into the mid 70s for a daytime high.

We should start to work out of this briefly stormy pattern as we head into the final week of May, which is good because good God we need a break.

Some showers may linger later into the week, but the general idea is that things will stay cooler than normal as we head through the week.

Climate Prediction Center says we’re getting cool! For this time of year, at least. (Pivotal Weather)

Highs look to remain in the lower 70s once this system passes, with drier weather working in mid-week and beyond.

That’s it for me for now! You can always keep up with the latest on all of our social media platforms. Have a tremendous day and a great weekend!
