We have been subjected to a preview of winter’s chill around WABBLES to finish this week, with highs in the 40s and peak wind chills in the 30s. The good news is that slow warming is on the way as we head through this weekend.
Chilly finish to the work week: Friday and Friday Night
The chill sticks with us to close out the work week, even as we keep a few clouds around during the daytime hours.
We’ll see some sunshine as well, but that won’t warm us quite enough, with afternoon highs only making it into the middle to upper 40s throughout the region. Yes, for highs.
Still three teams alive in the KHSAA playoffs and no matter if you’re staying here in BG or headed up to Central Kentucky, things look chilly as we head into Friday night.
Even as clouds try to filter in during the overnight hours, we’ll keep things on the cool side. We’ll be falling through the 40s even as the game kicks off, falling back into the upper 30s as the final horn sounds. Definitely a night for the fluffy coat, gloves, earmuffs…whatever keeps you warm.
As we head through the overnight, we’ll dip back down into the middle 30s, even as clouds increase the deeper we head into our early Saturday morning.
Slow Rebounding: Saturday and Sunday
Clouds will continue to pass to and fro as we work through the first half of our weekend.
A brief ridge of high pressure settles into the region as we head through the day on Saturday and even into Sunday as well. This will allow a small lull in the active pattern that kept us busy to finish the week.
That should keep skies partly sunny, with a few afternoon clouds passing here and there. We’ll stay appropriately cool with Saturday afternoon highs making a run into the upper 40s to near 50º. I mean, not warm…but at least there will be no frozen precipitation falling from the sky!
Things look to remain chilly overnight as lows fall back into the middle to even lower 30s despite partly cloudiness during the nighttime hours.
Sunday looks to be the choicer of the two weekend days.
Our rather transient high pressure looks to start to scoot to the east as we head into the day on Sunday. This means that sunshine will continue as temperatures look to become…a touch milder.
I wouldn’t expect late spring or anything, but flirting with 60º is going to feel better than the middle 40s with snow we had earlier this week!
Clouds continue to increase throughout the day, though, on Sunday as we continue to watch our next system begin to barrel toward the region.
Clouds will increase, along with perhaps a few sprinkles as our latest dynamic system works toward the region to start the work week.
Travel Trouble? Messy parts to Thanksgiving Week
If you’ve got travel plans for the Thanksgiving holiday, I would keep a close eye on the forecast, because things could get messy as we get closer to Turkey Day.
Scattered showers and, perhaps, a few thunderstorms will try to sneak into the forecast as we head into the day on Monday. Part of that will be due to warmth surging into the region ahead of our next cold front, with highs getting back into the middle 60s for daytime highs.
This doesn’t look to last long, though, as showers continue to spin on the back side of our latest low through the middle of next week, highs only making it into the lower 50s as we hit the road for Thanksgiving. The holiday itself looks to potentially see the return of some chilly rain showers as well.
That’s it for me for now! You can always keep up with the latest on all of our social media platforms. Have a tremendous day and a great weekend!
