Good Monday morning, WABBLES! Parts of the WABBLES region are waking up to some frigid temperatures and snowflakes dusting the driveways this morning as we get a little peak at winter. However, if you know Kentucky, this wintery setup won’t last long. As upper-level winds finish spewing cold arctic air over the region, we will soon transition back to our calmer and warmer fall-like weather later in the week.

Today’s Forecast
These early morning snow showers continue to move through the region, leaving behind a light dusting on lawns and roads. All WABBLES counties are now under a winter weather advisory until 6 P.M this evening. This quick dusting is enough to still cause some slippery surfaces, so be sure to be careful on the sidewalks and roads!

Temperatures have fallen off the deep end into the upper 20s to mid 30s this morning, and they won’t be getting much warmer than this. With cold winds from the northwest pumping in that arctic air, today’s highs are set to only make it up to the mid to upper 30s, with wind chills in the teens to mid 20s.

A more widespread band of snow showers continue to spit out flurries into the afternoon, before moving out of the region by the evening. Evening temperatures fall back into the lower 30s, with overnight lows dipping back into the mid 20s.

Mid-Week Warm up
After Monday’s frigid and winter-like weather, WABBLES is looking at a mini warm up on moving forward in the week. Our rain/snow chances have also diminished as a high pressure system begins to settle back into the region.
Tuesday morning will start out chilly again, with temperatures in the low to mid 30s. However, with increased sunshine and incoming winds shifting from northwest to southwest, highs are set to warm back into the mid to upper 40s. Tuesday’s overnight lows only fall into the low 40s to upper 30s across WABBLES.

On Wednesday, winds shift westerly but keep the warm air coming. Skies remain clear throughout the day, and with high temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s, it will be your typical beautiful fall day.
Thursday looks just as gorgeous as high pressure continues to keep our weather calm. Thrusday’s highs climb back into the low 60s, with mostly sunny skies.

So keep those coats and mittens on hand for this chilly Monday, and enjoy the first glimpses of winter and the pretty snowfall. Even though this isn’t a very big winter event, still take it easy on the roads, as slick spots can still form over roads, bridges and overpasses. Be sure to follow our social media to stay updated with curent hazards and the weather. That is about all from me for now; stay warm, WABBLES!
