Isolated Storm Chances

Happy Tuesday to mah friends! Hope your week got off to a smashing start yesterday. Today will start out on the same note, complete with a hot, muggy feel, however, a curve ball will arrive this afternoon. A cold front is approaching from the northwest, which may fire off isolated storm chances. Some which may become strong.

Temps have chilled out in comparison to last week, holding in the low to mid 90s (for reference, BWG hit 101˚ TWICE last week) both yesterday, and what’s forecast today. With that being said, it’s still rather uncomfortable in the outdoors, with dewpoints hovering around 70˚.

Without question, humidity makes things 1,000x hotter…IMO.

Storm Chances

Your chance of seeing the wet stuff this afternoon isn’t great. The given setup in our atmosphere doesn’t want to fire off storms until the front has progressed thru a good chunk of the area. Check out the latest NAM 3km, valid from noon today through 1am Wednesday morning. It suggests isolated storm chances late this afternoon:

As illustrated, those located across the southeastern half of WABBLES stand the greatest opportunity at getting in on the action. Although they may be few & far between, anything that fires could intensify quickly. The SPC has included us in their lowest tier of their latest severe weather outlook, with damaging wind being the primary concern:

Sweet Relief?

In a sense, we’ll get a brief reprieve from the relentless humidity with the passing of the cold front tonight. Dewpoints will tumble some 10-20˚ from last week, coming in between the low and mid 60s for most.

It could be better, but with the recent heatwave, we’ll take what we can get. Highs will hang out in the low 90s Wednesday through Saturday, with humidity creeping back in the fold as well.

This will be followed by our next opportunity at rain come Sunday. It appears we’ll be flipping to a more active pattern by early next week. Isolated storm chances may appear as early as the predawn hours of Sunday morning, before increasing in coverage as the day wears on.

I bid you farewell, fellow WABBLErS. Have a great Tuesday. As always, keep up with the latest shenanigans here —> @WxornotBG.
