Good Sunday morning WABBLES! It is another day that we will be fighting the rain chances this week with scattered showers and expected to develop this afternoon. The good news is that we have some much needed dry time on the way for the new work week. Here is the latest weather information.
A very tropical like atmosphere is overhead this morning as we prime it for more shower and storms overhead. If you take a look below you can see WABBLES is right on the edge of the very dark/light greens. This is were we have a boundary setup today and it will be the focus storm development later today.
Radar as of 6am this morning shows widespread activity over southeast Missouri and southern Illinois. This activity is almost stationary at this time and will not move much through the morning hours. The stalled frontal boundary will be the focus for more shower and storms as we close in on the lunch time hour.
Future radar below gives us an idea of how today will probably evolve. You can see right around noon that showers and storms blossom across southern Kentucky. The tricky part of this is that most of this activity will be slow moving.
Rainfall totals today will be 0.00-0.40″ with Isolated amounts up to 1″
Yes, some folks may get missed.
The severe threat will remain low but a few gusty downburst cannot be ruled out. Heavy downpours may lead to localized road ponding and flooding near creeks/streams. We will have to keep an eye on the flash flood threat too, but that threat will also remain low.
Activity will begin to come to and end as the sunsets tonight. The boundary will start to shift southward and so will our rain chances as we head into the new week. Temperatures this afternoon will top out in the low-80s.
The Week Ahead
We are going to start the new week dry and hot with our rain chances being pushed off to the southeast. Now, we will still need to keep an eye on the boundary because if it lifts to far north we may see a stray shower or storm reach WABBLES.
Temperatures this week will be right around normal for this time of year. Again we will be monitoring for pesky shower or storm to make it up here, but we will be dry for most of the week.
That will do it for today folks! Follow us on social media for the latest weather information! Have a great Sunday and a great week! @wxornotbg
