Welcome to WxornotBG, everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. Over the past 48 hours, the WABBLES area has seen more than 2″ of rain, with some places seeing more than 4″! A Flash Flood Watch is still in effect until this evening, but we can expect a wet and stormy week ahead.
Spotty Heavy Showers Possible Today
We finally caught a break from the heavy rain yesterday evening, but the threat returns today in the form of pop-up thunderstorms. This is why the Flash Flood Watch doesn’t expire until 7:00 pm this evening.
We will start the day under mostly cloudy skies, but as the dew point rises, we will start seeing some scattered thunderstorms develop over many areas that have already seen a lot of rainfall.
Heavy rain looks to be the main concern, so stay weather aware, and we will be sure to keep an eye on it too. Highs today will reach near 90°, but the showers could cool us off some come the afternoon.
Precipitation looks to end as nighttime rolls around, leaving us with mostly cloudy skies and a low near 70°.
Repetitive Rounds of Rain This Week
After analyzing some surface maps, it’s looking like a stationary boundary will set up just to our north. This will help make conditions conducive for thunderstorm development this week.
Another chance for rain comes on Tuesday, this time in a more organized structure rather than pop-ups. This could mean areas already flooded may have some flooding issues again.
We will be sure to keep you up-to-date as we get closer to this timeframe. Otherwise, expect another hot day with highs in the upper 80’s.
More rain is expected Wednesday as the stationary front funnels the storms in our direction. Quite the wet week after a relatively dry period!
That finishes today’s forecast. Thanks for reading! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotBG, as well as on Facebook, for all your weather updates. Stay dry!
