Strong to severe thunderstorms have been ongoing across parts of Wisconsin and Minnesota since before day break. Currently, a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for northern Wisconsin and portions of Michigan’s upper peninsula until noon CST.
As storms chugged across Minnesota and Wisconsin this morning many people awoke to severe thunderstorm warnings. As of 10am, there were already 13 hail reports and 7 damaging wind reports in the two states today. These storms also carried the threat of heavy rain and many locations in Minnesota remain under flash flood warnings or flood advisories. Here were some of the rainfall totals from this morning:
The WPC has placed areas east of the current storms under a slight risk for excessive rainfall today, additional flash flooding will be a concern in Wisconsin and Michigan.
