Good morning, WABBLES! I hope you’ve been able to successfully sweep the snow off the car this morning if you’re heading out to work. Regardless if you’re going out or enjoying another “snow day”, today will be quiet and frigid before the next winter system arrives Wednesday into Thursday.
Dangerous Wind Chills Today
As if the snow and ice weren’t already fitting enough to make it feel like a winter wonderland around here, the cold, frigid air is really solidifying that claim. The air will be dry today but the high temperature will struggle to get out of the teens. With the winds around 10mph, the wind chill values could make the air feel as low as 1 degree.
Other than the frigid air, we will catch a break from anything too eventful. Expect mostly cloudy conditions with a snow flurry here and there.
Overnight, the actual low will drop all the way down to 10 degrees with wind chill values close to zero.
Another Winter System to Arrive Wednesday PM
If you haven’t had enough winter weather for the week, we have one last system to arrive just in time to disrupt the end of the work week. The tricky thing with forecasting these last two systems has been predicting the precipitation type. The same thing will ring true for this one.
As of now, according to the GFS model, it looks like we start out with seeing snow in the late evening hours close to midnight on Wednesday. Mixed in though with it is sleet and possibly freezing rain before transitioning to more snow.
However, the NAM tells the opposite story putting WABBLES region in a warm sector to see mainly rain and little snow.
With this being said, things are still really uncertain with this system and any forecasted totals are not set and stone. As of now though, the region can expect to see 2-5 inches. Stay tuned for updates.
