Congratulations! If you’re reading this, you have made it through meteorological summer. We’ve gotten through our hottest time of the year, but that doesn’t mean a little bit of heat can’t last a little longer into the calendar year. And that’s exactly what we’ll deal with as we welcome a toasty start to September.
Nearly Summer Sunday
I rather hope you’ve gotten used to the weather of the past couple of days because that basic theme will continue as we flip that calendar page.
Highs near 90° continue for us this afternoon as the stagnant pattern continues around the Ohio Valley.
Since we’re behind that warm frontal boundary sitting just north of us, we’ll also keep that slight muggy factor with us in addition to the mostly sunny skies.
Mostly clear skies continue into the overnight hours, as we dip back to around 70° for a summer-like low.
Labor Deja Vu
Once we reach our Labor Day holiday, you’re going to say “this looks quite familiar” and you’d be right, because the same basic pattern remains in place.
Mostly sunny skies, warm temperatures and slightly muggy conditions will mark the unofficial end of summer as highs once again reach the 90° plateau. Perfect for that last dip in the lake or the pool. And much like tonight, we’ll only fall back to about 70° for a mostly clear overnight low.
Tremendously Familiar Tuesday
Folks, I’m running out of synonyms and consonance because it’s going to be a remarkably similar day once again as we kick off the shortened workweek.
The ridge over our heads strengthens, bolstering the mostly sunny and warm weather overhead for yet another afternoon. Highs climb to 90° or so once again as winds switch back to southerly.
Overnight lows dip back to near 70° as our muggy regime stays in place for just a little while longer…but the wait will pay off.
Late Week Pattern Flip?
Models have keyed in on the trend of dragging a cold from through here during the later hours of Wednesday. The upper atmosphere is pretty dry so, we’re not expecting a huge precip chance.
But once the front moves through, temperatures tumble back into the lower 80s with low humidity values to close out the week. In a word? perfect. Still plenty of time to watch it but things are looking up, up, up.
That just about does it for me! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotbg for the latest updates on your holiday weekend forecast. Have a terrific Friday!
