Good morning everyone! I hope we are all doing well on this wonderful Thursday morning. We have been quite hot over the past week in a half, but expect that to change up a bit as stormy conditions keep the heat at bay over the next few days.
Widespread Storms Thursday and Friday
As you wake up and get going about your day, you’ll notice that we are sitting underneath copious cloud cover, in addition to the scattered showers across the region.
This will be a common theme across the region today as a low pressure system gradually moves to our north and then slowly to our northeast. Clouds, showers, and cool temps are expected.
Highs this afternoon should only get into the lower 80s (~81ºF-82ºF) region wide. I do expect some breaks in the clouds early and mid afternoon, which should help fuel more storm development by this evening along a slow moving cold front.
These storms will likely be on a weakening trend as they approach our region. Nonetheless, the rain that many have needed is on its way today!
Friday looks similar and different.
The same low pressure system will be slowly churning to our north as it moves north and east. The only difference is that we look like we may be in a more established warm sector tomorrow afternoon.
Rain doesn’t look to impact us too much tomorrow morning, so this should help yeild temperatures in the mid 80s by early afternoon. This may result in some instability ahead of the cold front.
As a result, some strong storms are possible; however, the greatest threat is to our north and east. We’re close to where the cold front is expect to fire off storms.
Otherwise, expect partly sunny skies, with highs in the mid 80s.
Saturday looks beautiful! The cold front will have passed through (finally), and our clouds and storm chances will have moved off to our east.
This will result in a partly to mostly sunny day across the region. Highs should be in the mid and upper 80s, and it should end up being a nice pool day.
However, by Saturday night, the next disturbance approaches the region, and brings and increase in clouds and rain chances. Sunday looks pretty gloomy, with widespread showers/thunderstorms expected.
By early next week, though, we dry off and warm up again, with our next chance of rain coming in the Wednesday-Thursday time frame.
Well, that is all I have for you fine folks. Have a wonderful day, and be sure to follow @wxornotBG on Twitter and Facebook for the latest information!
