Hey folks! Happy to be back forecasting for you after a break from weekend posts this past weekend. How nice was it outside, by the way!? Keep looking for Spring weather to stick around across the region.
Quite the Warm Tuesday
Monday was a really nice Spring-like day, as we saw our temperatures jump well into the mid 70s. That is nice considering we really haven’t been in that range much at all this Spring.
We are finally looking spring in the face. A high pressure system is sitting off the southeast coastline, and is pumping southerly flow into our region. Between that and a developing low on the Plains, expect us to have some breezy winds this afternoon.
As you’re heading out this morning, be sure to grab the sunglasses, and don’t let the cool air now defer you from shorts and a t-shirt. Highs should be in the lower 80s (~82ºF) this afternoon.
We’ll cool off into the upper 50s tonight under mostly clear skies.
Warm Wednesday and Thursday, as Well
We are currently within a pattern that is quite conducive to the warm up we are seeing right now. There will be a deep trough over the southwestern US, and this allows us to have southwesterly flow through much of the atmosphere.
This, combined with a lack of forcing for any thunderstorms, is leading to beautiful and warm days across the region. Wednesday and Thursday will be slightly different.
Wednesday should be another sunny day, but I do expect some partly cloud skies to develop in the afternoon as more moisture moves into the region. There may be an isolated shower or two, but nothing too widespread.
Breezy southwesterly flow will be present across the region, allowing us to get into the mid 80s (~85ºF) for highs on Wednesday.
Thursday will be similar, but there is a higher threat for showers/thunderstorms. I think the higher threat will be to our north, but we certainly have a higher threat for storms on Thursday than we do Wednesday.
With breezy southwesterly flow, I think we’ll see highs in the mid 80s again (~85-86ºF).
Beyond Thursday, expect showers and storms to accompany a passing cold front on Friday, but don’t expect anything severe. By the weekend, we will be back in the low to mid 70s, with plentiful sunshine.
Well, that is all I have for you fine folks! Expect spring weather to stick around, so try to get out and enjoy it. Be sure to follow our real-time weather feed, @wxornotBG for the latest on the forecast.
