Clouds are a’coming!
Hey everyone! Hope we’re all doing well out there this morning. We are currently waking up to some pretty chilly temperatures on this Saturday morning across our region.
Temps dropped like a rock last night, as clouds really hadn’t built in until this morning. And even then, they are relatively thin. It won’t be that way all day, however!
Another system is approaching from the west, and will bring clouds and rainfall to the region. But this morning and into this afternoon, I don’t think cloud cover will be too thick. Winds will be a bit breezy though!
Highs will rise to around 47°F, under partly sunny skies. By this evening, the clouds will begin thickening up as forcing increases from the west.
Gloomy Super Bowl Sunday
Those increasing clouds will lead to precipitation increasing late this evening across the region. Temperatures should cool into the upper 30s by this point, and this is where things get a little interesting.
The lower atmosphere ahead of the precipitation will be very dry. As rainfall increases in intensity with the stronger lift, we will see rain fall into the lower atmosphere and evaporate. Evaporation is a cooling process, and this will help cool us further.
This may lead to brief snowfall at the onset of this system. We likely won’t see anything significant, but we may see the rain change over to snow for a brief time span tonight.
Rainfall looks to last from around midnight through 8 am Sunday morning. I would take the umbrella out with you Sunday morning just in case.
The cold front will crash through during the late morning hours, with temps falling into the 30s by the evening.
Clouds will be prevalent most of the day, so be ready for that. By the time your Super Bowl parties end (and hopefully the Eagles win!), we’re looking at clouds quickly moving out, and temps in the upper 20s.
Ahh, Monday! Clouds will have cleared out of the region, and we’ll be under the influence of a surface high pressure system again.
We’ll be looking at mostly sunny skies for the majority of the day, but it will be a bit chilly during the day. Temps by Monday morning should be in the upper teens to around 20°F. Bundle up for school and work!
Late Monday will likely feature high clouds, as the next system approaches the region.
