Flooding Still Possible
Flash Flood Watch – NWS Louisville
Good morning, everybody! I have some good news for y’all; the rain is gonna stop! There is a light at the end of the tunnel, yay! The cold front associated with this low pressure system will move through today, putting an end to all this nasty rain. The rain looks to stop around noonish, but, until then, there is a *flash flood watch* until noon today. We’re still looking at totals of 3-3.5 inches of rain in south central Kentucky before everything’s over, so please use extreme caution when driving around town.
Hi-res NAM Simulated Reflectivity ending Saturday 12pm, via COD Meteorology
Temperatures will start to fall behind the cold front due to the winds now coming from the northwest (Canada), so the high for today will actually be in the morning time. Highs will be in the low 50’s but will fall to the low 40’s by the afternoon. Don’t worry; it’s going to get cold!
With the rain having stopped earlier in the day, overnight will remain mostly cloudy. Lows will hover right around the freezing mark, setting us up for a very chilly Christmas Eve morning…
Min Temp for Saturday, via Pivotal Weather
For Christmas Eve, the day will start out dry and chilly. An upper level disturbance looks to swing through the region later that afternoon, potentially giving us some light rain or even snow flurries! However, if we were to have any precipitation, no measurable accumulation is expected (sorry, snow lovers).
Max Temp for Sunday, via Pivotal Weather
Highs for Sunday will be in the mid 40’s under mostly cloudy skies, while lows will be in the mid 20’s.
Christmas Day and Beyond
For Christmas Day through mid-week, we can pretty much expect the weather to remain cold and dry. Highs on Christmas will be in the mid to upper 30’s under mostly sunny skies. Lows will again be in the mid 20’s under mostly cloudy skies.
