Well, that was gloomy, wasn’t it? After a warm but wet day on Tuesday, Mother Nature kept it cool and damp. I’d show you the high temperature map but it’s a bit misleading because our high occurred at 12:15am (55ºF, by the way), but we did manage to top out in the mid-50s.

Ahhhh it feels refreshing outside.
And that refreshing feeling is thanks to a big old high pressure system sitting over the northern plains, allowing us to bask in sunshine and cooler northwest winds, drying us out and cooling us down considerably.
And we’ll certainly feel the effects of it, with highs not making it out of the 30s during the day today, a stark contrast to the 50s and 60s of earlier this week.
Don’t worry however, things are going to warm up nice and quick and once again, we have the high pressure to thank. See, it’s moving to the south and east and will eventually work it’s way through our region, on it’s backside we’ll enjoy southwesterly winds, bringing us warmer weather from the Gulf of Mexico region for out day on Friday, luckily those skies stay sunny.
But all good things must come to an end, and in this case, it’s quite wet.
Coming up right behind that high pressure system as a weaker trough that’s going to act as a focus for more wet weather as we move into the weekend. The shower chances start off low on Saturday but gradually increase as the system draws closer.
The bigger rain chance comes to close out your weekend on Sunday and temperatures really cool down after that but we’ve got a while to watch that.
Today’s Key Points
- Today features the return of sunshine and cooler temperatures.
- Sunshine remains for Friday but temps warm considerably.
- Rain chances increase during the day Saturday.
- Sunday looks to be the rainier of the two weekend days.
