Oh hey, more rain in the forecast, haven’t seen that in awhile. Seriously, you’re going to want to enjoy the small period of time it’s not raining for the rest of the weekend.
As for today, any rain looks to stay just north of our area, with more clouds than anything.
The system for Monday night and especially Tuesday has a little bit more bite to it.
First off, thanks to southwest winds, we are going to warm up in advance of this system. We go from mid-40s today up to the mid-60s by tomorrow and those temperatures stick with us into the day on Tuesday.
You’ll notice that sharp cut-off in the warmer temps to our west in the later frames, that’s thanks to the cold front trailing behind this system. Yes, the same system producing the ice storm in the plains. With the moisture pooling out ahead of it, we’re going to see even more rain showers as it moves through and some of these could be heavy.
Our first taste of rain showers should come well ahead of the front late Monday evening.
As the front begins to come through during a slightly warmer portion of the day on Tuesday, we may try to squeeze our a little bit of thunder and lightning but that should be few and far between. Temperatures behind the front look to be cooler but not for long.
Today’s Key Points
- One more day of cooler temps and today looks mostly dry.
- Most of your Monday looks dry but we warm up.
- Rain chances also go up Monday night into Tuesday ahead of a storm system.
- More showers and maybe a storm Tuesday as the front passes.
